Independent, unofficial guide. Not the hotel. Who we are

About this site

This is an independent, unofficial guide. It has no affiliation with the Renaissance Aix-en-Provence Hotel, with Marriott, or with Renaissance Hotels, and it never presents itself as any of them.

Compiled and checked by the editors of this independent guide — who we are and how we check. Last edited .

Why this site is not the hotel

Search for this hotel by name and you will find several sites that look official without saying they are. Some carry booking-style layouts. We are not one of them, and the difference has to be visible rather than buried in a footer.

So we say it on every page: we are a guide, not the hotel. Bookings go to marriott.com. We earn nothing from a reservation you make there.

How we handle facts

Every figure we publish is stored with two things attached: the address of the source it came from, and the date we last checked it against that source.

Those dates are printed next to the numbers, grouped the way the sources are grouped. A fare comes from the operator's tariff page. A timetable comes from the timetable. A walking distance comes from a measurement. Presenting all three under one date would suggest a single source confirmed all of them, which is not how it works.

Our database refuses to store a value without its source. That is a constraint in the database itself, not a rule we promise to remember.

What counts as a source

Only first-hand publishers: the airport, the carrier, the official tariff page, and the hotel group for facts about the property. Blogs, aggregators, review sites, and booking portals are not sources for us, however convenient their numbers look.

When we cannot find an official source, the field stays empty and the question goes on our open list. An empty field is honest. A plausible number with no origin is not.

Interpretation, kept separate

Some things are judgement rather than fact. Whether a bus is workable with two large suitcases, for instance, depends on luggage space, and reasonable people weigh that differently.

Where we offer that kind of read, we label it as ours and state the criterion behind it. You can disagree with the criterion, which is the point.

Corrections

Fares change. Timetables change. If you find something out of date, tell us and we will recheck it against the source and update the date. See the contact page.

How we check facts

Every figure carries a source link and the date we last checked it. No source, no number.
